It’s not just a brew, but a bond

Perched in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, Dimbula crafts a tea that’s more than exquisite. It’s poetic. Bright and brisk, with floral grace and bold strength, it’s a true tribute to the mountains.

Dimbula is the brew that made me…

~ Lushantha de Silva

Some teas go beyond taste. Beyond aroma. Beyond the leaf. Ceylon Dimbula is one such tea.

For Lushantha de Silva, founder of Empire Teas and a third-generation tea master, it is far more than a favorite brew. It is memory. It is home. It is a legacy in a cup.

“I still remember the scent of freshly withered leaves drifting through my father’s factory,” he shares. “Dimula was always different. Always special. Its leaf had a soul.”

Raised in a family where tea was a way of life, Lushantha grew up watching dawn-picked leaves turn to liquid gold by dusk. Of all the regions, Dimbula stayed with him. It’s wild weather, whispering winds, and tea that felt soft yet deep.

Dimbula’s charm lies in its balance. “It’s not loud, it’s not shy. It speaks gently but stays with you,” he says. Perhaps that’s why he brews it on the most important days.

To Lushantha, Dimbula tea is a bridge between generations, craft, nature, the past, and the present. It carries memories of his father’s steady hands, his grandfather’s stories, the scent of fresh tea leaves, and a deep, enduring pride.

“Every cup of Dimbula brings me back, to who I am. And where it all began” says Lushantha.

Dimbula is a love passed down. A story steeped in time. A tea that carries a family’s soul.
